ELIMINATE INEQUITY, BIAS, AND STEREOTYPES

The Junior League was founded to push back against traditional views and stereotypes of women, showing the larger world that women are diverse leaders from a variety of backgrounds. For generations, women have faced inequality, bias and stereotypes, all of which produce negative outcomes for women in all aspects of their lives. Girls are also exposed to stereotypes at an extremely young age, making proactive elimination of inequity, bias and stereotypes of the utmost importance for future generations.

PROGRAMS, INITIATIVES, AND PARTNERSHIPS:

Local Community Impact:

Junior Leagues focus on the most pressing needs in their community related to countering inequality, biases, and stereotypes towards women. This can range from girl empowerment programs to college and career fairs to the embedment of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into everything they do.

Partnership with Lean In:

We launched over 200 Lean In Circles across the Association in July 2023. Lean In Circles are small peer focused on skill building, connection and networking across The Junior League.

Partnership with Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation:

The Junior League is partnering with the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation, which was selected by the U.S. Congress to erect a monument on the National Mall in DC to honor American women’s fight for suffrage.
