KIMBERLY WITHERSPOON

Kimberly Witherspoon is slated to become the first African-American President-Elect of the Junior League of Greenville, SC for the 2021-2022 League Year. The Junior League of Greenville, Inc. (JLG) currently engages in initiatives that help women in the Greenville community overcome barriers, focusing on Human Trafficking and Economic Mobility. Her prior Placements within JLG have included chairing the Junior Volunteers Committee, which had a mission to develop and implement volunteer opportunities for middle school students, including those in Title I middle schools; serving on JLG’s grant-making committee; serving as JLG’s Community Impact Vice President and chairing JLG’s Nominating Committee.

In addition to her membership in JLG, she assisted in the development of a curriculum that provided Greenville County seventh graders, primarily those from Title I middle schools, with the opportunity to learn about diverse career opportunities available in the Upstate as a Fellow in the Riley Institute at Furman. As a member of Class 40 of Leadership Greenville, she worked to revitalize the interior of the Julie Valentine Center, a JLG partner agency whose mission is to stop sexual violence and child abuse. Kimberly is a former Board Member of the United Way of Greenville County and Pendleton Place, a JLG partner agency that offers programs that protect, equip, and heal vulnerable children, young adults and families.

Kimberly, a public finance attorney at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., is also a Liberty Fellow through the Aspen Global Leadership Network, whose fellows make a lifelong commitment to move South Carolina forward.
