Aida Pantoja Lives Her League’s Values In Texas

When Aida Pantoja joined the Junior League of Abilene, she was looking to volunteer in her community. Over the last 4 years, she has served Abilene through her League work, and has applied the skills she developed in her League to other environments.

Within her League, Pantoja is currently the Education and Training Chair, and was previously the PAVE Grants Chair and CarePack for Kids Assistant Chair. She particularly appreciates the role that CarePack plays in lessening food insecurity.

“We know some children do not have three meals during the weekend,” says Pantoja.

This past year, the Junior League of Abilene created over 50,000 packs of food for students to take home for weekends. Pantoja posts pictures of their efforts on social media to share the positive work The Junior League does in her community. Beyond her League, this past January, Pantoja led/participated in a press conference about fires that occurred at Arthur Sears Park. As the Treasurer of the Hispanic Leadership Council of Abilene, she used her Junior League experience to communicate to the public her council’s work with the Abilene Fire Department and Abilene Police Department.

Pantoja has also passed her passion for service on to her two young adult children. “Like me, they love to volunteer and help others,” she says.
