2026: Jennifer Ludwick

The Junior League of Birmingham, AL

From the moment Jennifer joined the Junior League of Birmingham in 2024, she distinguished herself as someone who leads with purpose and action. With her professional background in human rights advocacy and dual Master’s degree in Public Administration and Public Health, she quickly elevated the League’s work in meaningful, tangible ways.

As Chair of the Anti-Human Trafficking Committee, Jennifer has reimagined what leadership looks like. She has built powerful partnerships across organizations, such as the Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force, which gained JLB recognition from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Birmingham City Council.

As a Court-Appointed Special Advocate, she knows the importance of connecting at-risk women with secure housing and basic care. With this in mind, she strengthened survivor-centered programming, and expanded education and outreach efforts to reach those most vulnerable. Additionally, she launched an ongoing educational initiative for League Members and the broader community, bringing in experts from law enforcement, healthcare, legal services, and even survivors of human trafficking. These sessions equip volunteers with the tools to engage more effectively in prevention efforts and advocacy for legislative change.

While writing an article on the effects of an Alabama statute that automatically moves children to adult courts for certain offenses, she used her research to compose a policy brief outlining the harms of this process as well as detailed legislative recommendations towards reforming these laws. Her work reflects a commitment not just to service delivery, but to addressing root causes and improving long-term outcomes for vulnerable populations.

But what truly sets Jennifer apart is her leadership style. In her own words, Jennifer believes that an effective civic leader listens first, builds trust across communities, and takes action rooted in both compassion and accountability, and she cites her Membership in the Junior League of Birmingham as instrumental to shaping her into the leader she strives to be. Like our founders, she views civic leadership as both a responsibility and a privilege.

In her remarkably short time with the JLB, she has already created momentum and structure that will benefit her League for years to come. Today, we celebrate not only what Jennifer has already accomplished, but the extraordinary promise she represents.

Congratulations Jennifer!
