2022: DEIB Goals
During the last five years, The Junior League of El Paso has been working toward creating transformative, sustainable change for a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive League. They believe that all members are responsible for the future of The Junior League, and that every member should play a role in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts.
To build a strong foundation for change, the Junior League of El Paso partnered with DEI experts to conduct a series of interactive trainings to increase their understanding of DEI and develop strategies to target their goals.
Among their many initiatives, the Junior League of El Paso appointed a D&I Task Force they gathered data on member experience to assess opportunities for growth, established a new Chair and Board of Directors position to collaborate with all councils, added a committee D&I-focused goals, hosted training events and open dialogue sessions, eliminated the sponsorship requirement and lowered the age minimum for membership, and established payment plans and a scholarship program to reduce financial barriers to membership.
The Junior League of El Paso continues to educate and provide resources to empower members to embody DEIB Goals; collaborate with each committee and council on achieving DEIB goals; and has adjusted by-laws, policies, and procedures to be a more equitable organization.
