
Dr. Maria Del Rio Hoover
Dr. Del Rio Hoover joined Ascension St. Vincent Evansville (then St. Mary’s Hospital) after finishing a neonatology fellowship at the University of Miami, Florida, Jackson Memorial Hospital. She helped create the Center for Children in 2005, which provides outpatient pediatric specialty services for children and became its medical director in 2014 after spending more than 25 years in the practice of neonatology. She is currently the Medical Director of the Center for Children and the Pediatrics Service Line for Ascension St. Vincent Evansville.
She is the co-chair of the Perinatal Substance Use Task Force for the Indiana Department of Health’s Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative and a member of the Vanderburgh County Board of Health. She currently serves on the Ascension St. Vincent Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of Volunteers of America Ohio and Indiana, and the Indiana State Medical Association’s Board of Trustees. In 2008, Maria won the top award given by the Junior League of Evansville, the Helen Klamer Phillp Award. This award is given annually to a Sustaining Member who has made outstanding contributions to the community. She has received numerous honors for her work with women and children including the Indiana Torchbearer Award, the Ascension Health Living the Mission and Values Award, the Steward of St. Vincent de Paul Award, the Rotary Club of Evansville Civic Award, and the Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Community Service Award. She was recently reappointed by Governor Holcomb to serve on the Healthy Hoosiers Foundation Board.
