2025: Address Confidentiality Program

Voting is a fundamental right of citizens.   Yet because of the requirement that the voter provide a valid address, this fundamental right can be unavailable to those who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault or human trafficking.   Faced with the choice to reveal their address in order to vote, most will decline to vote.  For over 6 years the Junior Leagues of Michigan through the Michigan SPAC fought for a solution and the result was the Address Confidentiality Program adopted into law and now funded as a program in the Office of the Attorney General.  A “designated address” can now be used anytime any public agency, including schools, government, etc. requires an address and can be requested to be used by private sector employers.  This safeguard allows women to engage in the democratic process without compromising their personal security.  Congratulations to the Junior Leagues of Michigan SPAC!
